Sarah

Hi, my name is Sarah.  I was born January 21, 1977.  My sign is Aquarius.  I was a bartender for about 8 years and find it was a tremendous help in my understanding of people.  Due to a disability, I am now a "Home Maker" and loving it!

I am a thoughtful person concerned with social issues. I am very interested in the ways in which economic, social and cultural issues affect individuals. I feel people should not be content with simply blaming society for their problems or others' problems, but rather become active in creatively finding ways to solve these problems.

I am a freedom-loving, strong-willed, and independent-minded individual, and I insist upon living my own life as I see fit, even if that means ignoring convention and tradition.  I have strong convictions and feelings about fairness and equality, and I try to live by my ideals.

I am fair, intelligent, objective, rational and often let my head rule rather than my heart. I think in broad terms and am concerned with the world beyond my own personal sphere--my town, nation, planet, or planes of existance.

In 1995, I graduated from Howells High School as a Honor Roll student.  From high school I went on  to Wayne State College with a major in psychology and a minor in sociology.  Unfortunately, I was not able to complete my education at that time.

On August 14, 1996 I brought into this world my beautiful daughter Ashley, whom I could not live without.  Then September 15, 2001 I married my husband Russ and life has never been the same.  In fact, our relationship, has truly made me belive in the concept of "soul mates" or "twin flames".  On August 17, 2002 I again brought a wonderful new life into this world, named Jacob.  He is also another bright star in my life.

I  have alwasy been very interested in the paranormal.   When my interest first peaked, I tended to be very frightened by the subject of ghosts.  But by allowing myself to do professional and scientific research and investigations into this subject, I have become less afraid and much more intriqued!

I enjoy being part of a group endeavor and often find myself organizing, managing, or supervising group activities.
I am forward-looking and progressive, I harbor great hopes for the future. I try to  stay current and up to date on all scientific subjects and studies, from religious aspects to evolutionary ideas.  I  have an experimental mind and am attracted to the novel.

My strong points include my concern for human welfare and social betterment, my sense of fairness and democratic spirit, and my vision. I invest a tremendous amount of my creative and intellectual energy into all of my research and investigations, my relationships with others, and my thirst for knowledge.

I enjoy  being able to work with people on a one-to-one basis to bring about mutual understanding, harmony and satisfaction in an area in which I feel can really excel, and help to produce siginifcant results on the understanding of paranormal phenomena.

In the month of Decemeber 2005 I was struck ill with pneumonia.  During a routine check up, after being released, a small spot was found on my righ lung in an x-ray (which is where the pneumonia had been).  A CTscan (Computed Tomography) was then done, which showed a 5 cm mass in my right lung.    January of 2006 my doctor contacted me and I was told that I had a very rare sarcoma tumor in my lung.  The biopsy tissues were then sent to the Mayo Clinic, for a second opinion, due to the rarity of the cancer.  A week later I received word that I had Leiomyosarcoma (LMS).

I am home and doing the best that I can for myself and family.  Unfortunately there is no way to say it will never return or be totally contolled, so now it's a watching and waiting game.

Throughout it though I have learned that everyday is something special and to wake up in the morning with the gift of being able to see those you love is what makes life so wonderful.

I have slowed down a bit since the hospital, but this does not deter me from what I want to do.  I am still motivated to research and investigate the world of the paranormal and see what's out there!

Russ

Hi, my name is Russell.  I was born on July 11, 1971 in Islip, New York.  I am now 35 years old.  I have had a rough past but pulled out of it with minor cuts and bruises.  I now believe there is somone for everyone and I found my someone, my wife Sarah.  I now have two children Ashley and Jacob, who I live for.

I am a 23 time published poet.  I have been writing for 15 years.  I still write occassionally.  I enjoy playing and DMing D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) and watching educational shows on ancient civilizations, dinosaurs, ghosts and bible mysterys.

As a child and as an adult, I have moved to many different neighborhoods.  Two houses I previously lived in someone had passed on there before I had moved in.  In every town there is a "haunted" house.  I myself have never seen or heard anything that could be classified as paranormal.

My religious background.  I am from a christian family.  Lutheran on my father's side and catholic on my mother's side.  I have attended many differnt churches and have read the majority of the bible.  I find it hard to believe. I think the concept of the bible was to control humans who had no control.  It's generally a good idea.  The basics be good and faithful and don't let others lead you off the right track, I feel are important as a basis of a good life.

I really want to belive in the paranormal.  I feel that it is more likely than nothing after death.  The thing is energy does not die...where does it go?  Does it retain memories, physical shape?  If so, are they trying to communicate or warn us?  What have millions of people experienced and why?

I am a skeptic.  If any incident is questionable, I'll question it!  I am proud to be a member of V.T.P.R.  I hope to answer and get answers to many of our questions that we have.

Thank you for your support.  Let it be known!

Ashley

Hi! I'm Ashley.  I was born August 14, 1996.  I have wanted to be a V.T.P.R. Junior Investigator for 3 reasons:

1.  I want to spend time with my family doing something we all enjoy.

2.  I, myself, think ghosts are real.  I want to help citizens that think their houses are haunted.

3.  I also want to be part of V.T.P.R. because it will give me more time to learn about ghosts.

I don't understand how people think that ghosts are fake when you listen to them talking right after you record!

Ian

Hello, my name is Ian. I was born on June 27th in 1979. My astrological sign is Cancer the crab. I was born in Paterson, New Jersey. I write, perform, record and mix my own music.  I graduated high school in 1997. After high school I served 3 years in the United States Navy. I was a Machinist Mate (MM). This job included working on pumps and valves and steam propulsion plants. I was stationed the entire 3 years in Lamaddenlena, Italy. I took advantage of the surroundings and this is where I first started to do paranormal research. Europe is one of the most haunted places on earth so I was able to go on many ghost hunts and collect data. I have traveled to Rome, Africa, Sicily, Saudi Arabia and too many other places to list while living in Italy. This allowed for my studying of paranormal phenomenon.

After the Navy, I went to Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska. From this institution I received an Associates of Arts degree in Behavioral Science. After Northeast Community college, I transferred to Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. I graduated from Wayne State College on May 7, 2005.  I received a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology.  I am currently a member of Phi Theta Kappa (International Honor Society for the Two year college), Pi Gamma Mu (International Honor Society for Social Sciences), and Psi Chi (International Honor Society for Psychology).

I have spent a great deal of time traveling the world and seeking out the truth. I am driven by the want to know and understand the naturally occurring phenomenon that takes place everyday, everywhere. I conduct my research with and open mind and a rational logic. I use what I have learned through my scientific training in Psychology as well as my readings about the Occult. I feel with these two spectrums of knowledge combined, I will be able to come to a decisive and profound understanding and realization of the paranormal. In doing so this will allow me to share the results of my research and findings with the rest of humanity with the utmost confidence and the ability to say that paranormal phenomenon is real and that ghosts very likely do exist. Heather

Hi!  Welcome to the site!  My name is Heather.  I was born on April 22, 1984 which makes me a Taurus.  I have one younger brother and two wonderful parents.   I have a miniature dachshund named Tessa who is spoiled rotten and very loving.  I enjoy hanging out with my husband and spending time with my family after work.  I am very family-oriented and will do almost anything for those I love.

I had the opportunity to travel to Spain a couple of years ago.  This trip made me appreciate other cultures and living in America. You really don't know how good you have it until you see how other people live. I am a dedicated, self-reliant, hardworking individual.  I love to be around small groups of people and very rarely like to be alone.  I have worked hard for what I have and will continue to work hard to better my future which hopefully includes a family of my own.

I learned about the paranormal through my husband and his family who are very interested in the subject.  Over the past few years of research I have learned to appreciate new ideas and have become very interested in the world around us.  I am very interested in doing further research and hope to uncover some theories of my own.  I'm curious to see what's out there.

Howdy! My name is Fred.  I am 54 years old.  My old lady died on October 1, 1999.

I finished school in 1969 (very good year).  I had a lot of trouble when I was younger, couldn't conform.

Alcohol was a major part of my life for over 25 years.  I have been sober for over 15 years now.  Life is better without the "Liquid Monkey".

I was forced to church until about the age of 14 years old.  Today I still have a problem with the concept  of a "Higher Power".

I have a very keen interest in the paranormal.  I hope this endeavor will supply some answers.  But it might just pose some very large questions.

Good luck to all of us.  The Truth is out there!

Howells Residents Research Paranormal Phenomena
By:  Kathryn Harris
11/1/2006

Ian Todd ain't afraid of no ghost.

Although, as a bona fide ghost hunter - or as he prefers, paranormal researcher - there are times when the hair on the back of Todd's neck has stood up.

Todd is the lead investigator for Vanderworker Todd Paranormal Research (VTPR) - a nonprofit, family-operated ghost-hunting organization based here.

Like many people, there have been times when tracking the paranormal has been a bit unnerving.

"I've been in places that have bothered me," he said. "But wherever you're at, you kind of try to think, 'I'm a professional. What good is that to them to be freaking out and not get the data that they need?' "

Todd, who has a degree in psychology from Wayne State College, said part of his team's mission is to bring the field of paranormal research to the forefront and have it be taken seriously. VTPR uses science to try to explain what appears to be paranormal activity or hauntings.

"We believe that there are things we can't explain, things that happen because of nature, and mother Earth is kind of weird and she'll do strange things. There are things that aren't explainable at all to science. That's what we try to bring to the table," Todd said.

Using night vision cameras, infrared thermometers, digital and analog voice recorders, 35mm and digital cameras and electromagnetic field meters (EMF) to perform investigations, the team gathers evidence to try explaining what the human race currently deems as paranormal phenomena.

Each investigation starts out by filling out a large protocol packet that explains how the equipment will be set up and goes over the history of the house or land and the family involved.

"One thing we believe is that when you're doing any type of research - whether it's college research, medical research or paranormal research - you need to be exact," Todd said. "If you're doing it kind of fly-by-night, nobody is going to take you seriously. Nobody takes this seriously anyway."

The ghost-hunting team likes to spend several hours on an investigation doing EMF sweeps, taking both still and video recordings and trying to capture EVPs - electronic voice phenomenon - where disembodied voices inaudible to the human ear are detected on a voice recorder. When the investigation is over, Todd said, the team spends countless hours examining the the data compiled.

When they do run across evidence of the paranormal, the team members will try to debunk it by re-creating the phenomena, Todd said.

"We're real big into trying to debunk stuff," Todd said. "We try to look at every angle of every piece of data that we take before we say this is unexplainable to us."

The team has photographed orbs, but Todd said VTPR doesn't place a lot of emphasis on them as evidence of paranormal phenomena. VTPR has also caught doors closing by themselves and objects moving on video that they haven't been able to debunk, Todd said.

"A lot of people will ask, 'Is it haunted?' Well, that's a really hard question to ask a person and have them answer," he said.

Actually catching a gaseous anomaly - or stereotypical apparition - with a camera is rare, Todd said.

Todd said while he wants to believe hauntings happen, his team lets the documented evidence speak for itself.

"There are things that, by science, I can't explain or anybody else in the group can't explain," he said. "It's like, 'Here's the evidence. This is what we found. This is what we think, now it's up to you to say whether this is what you wanted to hear or not.' "

The Science of the Soul

What is a ghost?

Could it be that the paranormal phenomena shouldn't be as frightening as people make it out to be?

Could it be that what people deem as hauntings and evidence of the paranormal is actually - well, normal?

Ian Todd, lead investigator for Vanderworker Todd Paranormal Research of Howells, has a pretty good idea.

"They are an electrical imprint," Todd said. "The theory is that that's what ghosts or spirits are."

Human beings, Todd said, are basically made up of water and operate by electrical impulse or energy.

"According to Einstein's Theory of Relativity, energy can neither be created or destroyed," Todd said. "When we die, our bodies decompose. All of our water and other matter in us returns to the soil, it's evaporated into the atmosphere and disperses throughout.

"Where does our energy go?"

That energy - often referred to as a lifeforce, spirit or soul - has to go somewhere because it can neither be created nor destroyed, Todd said.

"If it's hanging around . . .my electrical imprint is still here. So that's going to register on a (electromagnetic field) meter," Todd said. "Whether it be a conscious being or not, it's still there. So it's a remnant of a person irregardless. It's their electrical imprint they left on the world."

Todd said that's why a lot of paranormal phenomena occurs in areas where there is a large deposit of limestone or chalk - like many places in Nebraska. Limestone and chalk draw in energy and hold it like a battery, he said.

"(Energy) has to go somewhere because it can neither be created nor destroyed. That's a scientific principle," Todd said.

The science of the afterworld is what Todd's team hopes to help bring to the forefront, he said.

"Lay people, if they want to dispute with us, that's fine, but we're trying to get this pushed more to the scientists of the world, to doctors and the physicists," Todd said.
